The Alice Nelson Charitable Trust was formed in March 2019 as a result of a bequest from the late Mr Edward Victor Nelson.  The Trust is named after Mr Nelson’s mother.

How the funding can be used

To provide support for Nurses and Midwives undergoing long-term medical (physical or mental ill-health, accident or disability) treatment

To provide accommodation to or cover transport expenses of family members of a Nurse or Midwife who is undergoing long-term medical treatment away from their usual place of residence.

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be a Nurse who is or has been registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or a Midwife who is or has been registered with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.

  • Applicants must have worked within the areas served by Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand’s Auckland, Counties Manukau or Waitemata districts (or their predecessor organisations) and must currently reside within one of these districts.

Applications for assistance can be made by completing the application form online at www.alicenelsoncharitabletrust.org.nz/apply

 Further information may be requested from you, eg:  Occupational Health, EAP, GP or other health practitioner.

Criteria for applications

  • An official application form must be completed.

  • Nurses and Midwives requiring support who are undergoing long-term medical (physical or mental ill-health, accident or disability) treatment

  • Support may include accommodation to or covering transport expenses of family members of a Nurse or Midwife who is undergoing long-term medical treatment away from their usual place of residence

  • Evidence of the long term-treatment and financial need is required

    Note:

    • An upper limit of $2000 per application applies - invoices and receipts are required.

    • The Trust’s decision is final and there is no right of appeal.
